Dear Friend of the Persecuted Church—
The Bible is full of examples of prayers. In fact, when Jesus wanted to teach His disciples to pray, He gave them the Lord’s Prayer as an example of what prayer should look like. Other examples abound—Solomon’s prayer at the dedication of the Temple (II Chronicles 6), Daniel’s intercession (Daniel 9), the prayer of Jabez (I Chronicles 4:9-10), and many others.
These prayer examples are inspiring. They not only encourage us to pray, but show us the reality of our interaction with the God of the Universe through prayers. When Solomon was done praying, for instance, the Spirit of the Lord filled the Temple. Daniel’s prayer sparked a visit from an angel. And we are simply told that God granted Jabez’ requests. What amazing power we see in these prayers!
Today I ran across a prayer written by one of the children it has been Remember’s privilege to serve in Thailand and Burma. This is what she said:
My Dear Lord Jesus,
I love you every day, and I thank you for dying on the cross in my place for my sins. I believe in you and I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for giving me good friends in my life. Thank you forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Dear Jesus I need you in my life please help me always. You are my all in all. Please take control of the throne of my life and make me the kind of person you want me to be. You gave me food every day and I thank you very much. You are my king, my Father, and my worship to come to you. Please help me to love each other and help each other.
I love you very much
Your daughter,
MHV
If that childlike faith does not inspire our prayers, I’m not sure what will!
