Dear Friend of the Persecuted Church—
I have only begun to watch the footage from the China trip that just returned, but already I am riveted to these lives and stories. We will have much to share from this trip!
But before that, I want to thank you for your prayers. Those that went on this trip faced enormous travel delays and difficulties due to the nature of the ministry. The evidence of the spiritual attack against this trip was evident. But praise the Lord, it was a success! Because of this trip, we have established vital contacts, necessary to minister in a country experiencing an unbelievable amount of persecution.
And the stories are incredible, but even more unbelievable are the lives behind the stories. When a person in China becomes a Christian, they expect persecution – and they prepare for it, knowing that it is coming. When it arrives, they have conditioned their bodies, but also their minds with Scripture memorization.
But even with all that conditioning, they know that there is only one thing that will sustain them through prison and torture: the sustaining grace of God.
Brother “Josh” is a second-generation church leader that Remember’s team had the privilege of interviewing. He told of his life as the son of a church leader; his father was often in prison, seldom could come home, and could not provide for his family as other fathers do. But he left for his son the heritage of a faithful example. Though he could not give Josh a house, or an elite education, he gave his son so much more than that.
Josh has taken that example and begun a ministry of his own – and faced his own persecution, including time in prison. He could not tell of his suffering, and the suffering of his family, without tears. But through the tears, in spite of the pain, he clung fast to the truth:
“I understand that during the suffering, we have more support from Jesus Christ. The comfort from God is more than my suffering.”
The comfort from God is more than my suffering...
Yours for the Body of Christ,
