"Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body."

The Weekly Reminder for April 30, 2008
-------------------------------------

Dear Friend of the Persecuted Church—

The practical effects of being a Christian can be very different for different individuals.  Some must seek secret fellowship in underground churches.  Some face imprisonment, and some are killed.  And some blessed few of us are free to worship without fear of reprisal!

But in spite of the differences, there is a striking commonality for every one of us that chooses to wholeheartedly follow after Christ.  While our sacrifices might look different, every one of us is called to lay everything on the altar for God’s glory.  As Jesus gave His all for us, so we give our all back to Him, and anticipate the undeserved, glorious blessing that is to come.

It is that commonality that makes us a body of believers – and it is that difference that gives the body its power.  And it is our service that makes us not just a body, but the Body of Christ.  Think of it – Christ gave His all for us.  That’s what started the Body.  And now we, through our comparatively small human services, continue the pattern that our Lord set for us.

Providing for each other is a common calling on all of us.  And like the other common callings, it can look different in practicality.  Some can give, some can go – but all of us can pray.  And pray we must; it is our calling.

You are the Body at work, my friend.  As you click through the links below, and read the news of the persecuted church, and as you remember the needs they have, please don’t keep that to yourself.  Share it – share it with the God who daily meets their needs, as He meets yours.

Yours for the Body of Christ,

Gabriel J. Waddell
Executive Director
