Dear Friend of the Persecuted Church—
Thank you for all of your prayers for the Sudan trip! We could certainly feel them at work on our behalf. The Lord’s hand of protection was with us, even though the “teddy bear” incident sparked riots only a few miles from where we were staying. (If you did not follow that story, you can read CNN’s synopsis by clicking here.)
And now we are safely back—but that doesn’t mean that we don’t need your prayers; just the contrary. Our trip was very successful, and that means that we need your prayers even more, as the ball starts rolling on a project that could potentially bless thousands of Nuba Mountain Christians.
One of the things that amazed me the most on this trip was just how welcome we were in the Body of Christ. These Christians are living in a country that is incredibly volatile, as the events of these past couple of weeks demonstrate. Circumstances do not lend themselves to trusting people, and yet, these believers welcomed us with open arms. One widow shared with us, through an interpreter,
My heart rejoice because of God's love, that he was able to meet both white and black together and are united in the love of Jesus Christ. I am very happy that I can shake hands with my brothers who are in white skin, and I wan to ask the Lord to continue to bless you so that your ministry will expand more and always be continue to follow God's steps.
I doubt we will ever know the full extent of what it means to be “united in the love of Christ Jesus,” but fellowshipping with these brothers and sisters has certainly given me an idea of the blessing that unity is.
Yours for the Body of Christ,

Gabriel J. Waddell
Executive Director
PS: The “correct” day for the Weekly Reminder is still Wednesday, and I plan to get back to the normal schedule next week!
