The Weekly Reminder for November 29, 2007
-------------------------------------

Dear Friend of the Persecuted Church--

Greetings from Sudan! As I write, I'm in the city of Khartoum, Sudan, on Remember's latest trip.  Our team returned just hours ago from the city of Kadugli, where God is opening incredible doors.

To give you some background, Remember is partnering with two other ministries to meet the needs of Christians in the state of South Kordofan in Sudan. South Kordofan marks the border between the Muslim north and Christian south of the Republic of the Sudan, and was ravaged by the civil war that raged for decades. While that war was ended by the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2005, this state was allocated to territory controlled by the north—despite the fact it is predominately Christian.

Though the political situation is complex and confusing, the practical situation is very simple: Our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering for their faith in South Kordofan. The war is over, but the number of widows and orphans of martyrs is unimaginable, and their suffering has not ended.

To meet that need, this trip is laying the groundwork for a monumental project in the city of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan. Since we are coordinating with other ministries, there will be many aspects to this project, but Remember is specifically concerned with building a safehouse for Christians suffering acute persecution, a clinic, a base of operations for our work here, and perhaps even a school or an orphanage, as the Lord opens the doors.

We returned this morning from Kadugli, where we saw the land that has been given for the project, and where our building expert researched the materials, prices, and options for this building. We met with government officials, every one of which was very positive about our ideas, and had a chance to fellowship with the local congregation of believers.

The Lord has poured out His blessing on this trip so far, but please do not stop praying! The next few days hold untold ministry opportunities, as we will have the chance to specifically meet with Christian widows to find ways to meet their needs. Pray that the Lord would open the doors for us, and that we would not miss His leading. We are truly “blessed to be a blessing,” and my prayer is that we would be able to spread the utmost blessing to God's people in the country of Sudan.

Yours for the Body of Christ,
