Dear Friend of Remember
When
I have the opportunity to meet with God's people in closed countries,
I am constantly reminded of God's love for His people. That is, after
all, why we have been called to this work of ministering to the persecuted
church. We are the agents of His love to suffering saints.
Nowhere is the need of these saints more obvious than in the Nuba Mountain region of central Sudan. The state of South Kordofan is the "buffer zone" between the Muslim north and Christian south. It was devastated in the Sudanese Civil War, which just came to an end in 2005, and since that time has been almost completely forgotten-not only by its own government, but by aid organizations. It is rural, hard to reach, and trapped in a political system that has abandoned it.
But God's people are there, and that is reason enough to cause us to remember where others have forgotten, and to reach out in ministry despite the hardship. That is what our trip in late November and early December, 2007, was all about.
Working in conjunction with two other ministries, we traveled to South Kordofan to begin a momentous project that will begin to meet the pressing needs of the Christians there. Our team traveled to the building site in Kadugli, met with government officials and aid workers, and worshipped with the Christians there, and we felt the presence of the Holy Spirit the whole time. Not only were we kept safe, but each step of the way we could feel His leading and blessing.
Because of this trip, our building project has gone beyond being a dream,
and has become a full-fledged plan. The building will serve as a Bible
college and vocational school, but Remember's part is in keeping
with our specific goal of ministering to the widows and orphans of martyrs:
a safehouse, facilities for a medical clinic, and a base of operations
for our medical teams to expand out into the otherwise unreachable Nuba
Mountain villages.
It is almost impossible not to be excited about the possibilities this
building will unleash. Thank you for your prayers on this trip, and
please do not stop praying! Much remains yet to be done, and if you
would like to be a part, please visit our Sudan
Fund page. For pictures of the trip, click
