Sudan
Building Project ...
Christians living in the South Kordofan State of central Sudan have lived in persecution for decades. Though the civil war that pitted them against the Islamic government is technically over, anti-Christian militias do everything they can to stop the influence of the gospel.
Despite the danger, Christianity is alive and well. Evangelists and pastors travel for miles on foot to share hope, encouragement, and the message of salvation. Through the heat, dust, and poverty they tirelessly do the work.
The decades of persecution have left their mark. Almost every believer has a story-a father that was killed, or a mother, an uncle, or a sister. Teenage young men are left to care for their brothers and sisters after their parents are murdered. Young widows are left in poverty when their husbands are martyred. And while attention is always pointed on the capital in the north, and aid flows to the people of the south and Darfur, the people of South Kordofan have largely been forgotten.
It
is into that need that God is calling Remember and two other
ministries. Working in partnership, we will be constructing a building
in the city of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan. Once completed,
the building will serve as a Bible College, medical clinic, vocational
school, and safehouse for persecuted believers suffering acute needs.
Remember's
part of this project is specifically focused on our key goal-ministering
to the widows and orphans of martyrs. We are privileged to be able to
work with the Middle
East/Africa Partnership and with Operation
Renewed Hope, who will be operating the Bible college and vocational
schools, while Remember will be running the safehouse and partnering
in the medical clinic. In addition, we will be able to use this building
as a base of operations to take medical teams into otherwise unreachable
rural areas, ministering to suffering believers in the Nuba Mountains.
The impact that this ministry can have is almost unlimited. Every facet is designed to meet a pressing need. While pastors are trained in Biblical doctrine, they will be equipped in vocational skills to provide for their families and teach their rural villages, and believers in acute need will be able to find a safe place to stay and food to eat while the danger subsides.
